Under the banner of our industry-leading Winkler+Dünnebier (W+D) brand, BW Converting engineers and manufacturers machinery for the envelope and direct mail converting, printing and inserting, as well as e-commerce mailing bag markets. We also manufacture machinery for converting and precise processing of thin and inhomogeneous materials at high production speeds, such as folded tissue handkerchiefs, facial tissues, baby diapers and pants, feminine hygiene, light incontinence products, adult diapers and pants and underpads.
A Legacy of Quality and Innovation
Founded in 1913 by Alfred Winkler and Max Dünnebier, Winkler+Dünnebier Maschinenfabrik und Eisengießerei GmbH & Co.KG invented the rotation principle for envelope machines. In 1976, W+D established the “Hygiene” business area, producing hygiene and tissue products.
W+D became part of the Barry-Wehmiller family in 2016, and the following year, acquired the F.L. Smithe and Halm Industries brands. BICMA Hygiene Technologie GmbH was acquired in 2018, bolstering focus on the hygiene sector.
In 2023, W+D was brought together with five other Barry-Wehmiller companies to form BW Converting, unifying the legacy of quality and innovation of each product brand under one global organization.
